January – The entire region remains snow covered where the temperature drops to as low as -12 degree Celsius. Travelling and pilgrimage is shut down during this month.

February – This is also the time when the temperature remains almost the same with little change in the temperature conditions. Snowfall is also a prominent occurrence around this month.

March – Some change in temperature is seen during this time which marks the onset of the spring season on the hills. The snow starts to melt away little by little during this time.

April – The clearing of the snow covered paths leading up to the temple commences during this month. But the temple doors are still closed during this time.

May – With the onset of summer this month also marks the opening of the temple Kapat and the beginning of the pilgrimage of Char Dham and Yamunotri. The temperature witnesses a substantial rise and the sky clears up making way for comfortable and pleasant travel situations.

June – This is undoubtedly the peak tourist month where the climate conditions are perfect for not just Dham Yatra but also for sightseeing. Make plans to visit Yamunotri Dham primarily during this time.

July – The beginning of this month marks the onset of the monsoon month. This time should be avoided for travelling on the hills of not only Yamunotri but also other such hill destinations.

August – The region remains awashed with rainfall and thunderstorms during this time and travelling here during the said month should be avoided at all costs. Some services like the helicopter Yatra remains suspended for some days bearing in mind the weather condition and the safety of the travelers.

September – This month marks the onset of the winter season and the end of the monsoon season in the valley of Yamunotri in Uttarkashi. The temperature experiences a brief drop and the night and days starts getting colder. It is still an ideal time to travel.

October – October is officially when the cold winter season begins and with every day it keeps getting colder and freezing.

November – After the first week of the month the place gets shut down for Darshan by its closing time which falls on the first week of the month itself. The weather and temperature gets extremely cold and chilly during this time.
